ATV Oil vs. Automotive Oil >>

All Arctic Cat ATV, Prowler and Wildcat lubricants are wet clutch certified. In a wet clutch application the engine, clutch and transmission all share the same oil. Using automotive oil in a vehicle with a wet clutch can cause the clutch to slip or not engage properly. Automotive oils contain various friction modifiers that help engine parts move more freely and increase fuel mileage. In a wet clutch system you want lubrication but you don’t want the slippery friction modifiers they put in automotive oils because it will get in between the clutches and reduce the amount of friction which ultimately leads to clutch slippage. The same is true if the oil is not changed on a regular basis – it will break down and the wet clutches will not work properly. Changing the oil in your Arctic Cat vehicle and using ACX Synthetic insures you will get like-new performance from your ATV, Prowler or Wildcat for many...

Synthetic or Mineral oil? >>

Mineral oil has long been the choice for both automotive and ATV engine oils. Made from crude oil through a conventional refining process, mineral oil is not as stable a lubricant as synthetic because its molecule chains are more inconsistent. Synthetic oils are “built” through a chemical and refining process to have consistent molecule chains. These identical molecule chains provide the basis for a better performing, more stable lubricant. Another advantage of synthetics is when they are built their molecules can be constructed to cater to the needs of a specific application. In the case of Arctic Cat lubricants, they are built to meet the needs of Arctic Cat engines. Arctic Cat ACX synthetic oil is a premium formulation featuring synthetic base stocks that provide inherently better lubricity than mineral oil or lesser-quality synthetics. Its higher viscosity indexes translate into more consistent performance over a wider temperature range. While more expensive per quart than mineral oil, synthetics require a longer change interval thanks to superior oxidation stability and low volatility. These extended drain intervals result in equal or lesser oil costs in the long run. This, combined with the focused additive protection of ACX Synthetic, insures you’re doing the most possible to protect your Arctic Cat...

ACX 0W-40 Synthetic Oil vs. ACX 15W-50 Synthetic Oil >>

Oil is a critical component to making an Arctic Cat ATV, Prowler or Widlcat survive and Arctic Cat offers two choices, ACX 0W-40 Synthetic Oil and ACX 15W-50 Synthetic Oil. Which one should you use? Here’s the difference: ACX 0W-40 Synthetic – This is an all-season full-synthetic formula recommended for use in temperatures -40F – 100F. ACX 0W-40 Synthetic is a multi-viscosity oil that features excellent cold flow characteristics so it protects engines on startup in colder climates or during cooler seasons such as fall and winter. ACX 0W-40 Synthetic protects engines being used in ambient temperatures up to 100F and is recommended for heavy-duty use in cold temperatures or recreational use and light-duty work applications in warm weather. ACX 15W-50 Synthetic Oil – If you run your Arctic Cat hard, ACX 15W-50 is the best oil choice. Formulated for use in temperatures between 0F and 130F, ACX 15W-50 Synthetic features long molecule chains that won’t shear or break down under heavy use in hot climates. Use this oil for heavy duty applications or hard trail use in warm weather or in racing...

Protect Your Fuel System With Arctic Cat Fuel Stabilizer >>

Today’s Ethanol-blended fuels are designed primarily for automotive use and can cause serious fuel system problems in powersports applications. Ethanol is hygroscopic (soluble in water) so it has a tendency to collect water and during storage or intermittent use the moisture content can surpass the ability of Ethanol to keep it suspended. Eventually the water will separate and pool in the lowest parts of the fuel system in a process is called phase separation which can lead to hard starting, no starting and corrosion. Arctic Cat Fuel Stabilizer addresses the negative aspects of phase separation and is an inexpensive way to protect your Arctic Cat vehicles. Add Arctic Cat Fuel Stabilizer to your fuel system periodically and especially before periods of extended non-use or...

ACX Synthetic Recommended Change Intervals >>

Break-In Period – Change oil after first 10 hours or 100 miles. ACX Full Synthetic Oil – After break-in period, change annually, or after 1,000 miles with normal use (whichever occurs first). More frequent oil changes are recommended for very extreme use.

ACX Synthetic Has Your Arctic Cat Covered >>

Arctic Cat ATVs, Prowlers and Wildcats get used across a wide range of temperatures and conditions and keeping their engines properly lubricated is a tough job. Arctic Cat ACX 0W-40 Synthetic is a full-synthetic engine oil that is suited for all-season use and is recommended if you’re using your Arctic Cat vehicle in cooler temperatures. ACX 15W-50 Synthetic Oil is what you need if you’re using your Arctic Cat vehicle in hotter temperatures or for competition. Both contain an advanced set of additives that protect against wear, corrosion and oxidation. Neither of these oils contains friction modifers so they are suitable for use in wet clutch applications. Arctic Cat and its lubricant partner share an open door policy when it comes to oil development and ACX oils are formulated to work specifically in Arctic Cat vehicles. No other oil can make this claim. ACX Synthetic features: Improved cold weather start-up and operation. Improved performance in high ambient and operating temperatures. Maintains excellent film thickness during high speed and temperature operation. Balanced additive package helps prevent engine deposits, sludge formation, engine components wear and rust and corrosion. Low volatility formulation reduces oil consumption and thickening. Designed for wet clutch application unlike passenger car motor oils. Don`t forget to follow Arctic Cat`s Lubricant maintenance recommendations to keep your ATV running in “tip-top” shape. Synthetic ACX 4-Cycle Engine Oil extends your drain intervals so you can change oil less frequently, saving you money in the long run....
